More Than 500,000 Vehicles Will Run On Natural Gas instead of Petroleum in 2024

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has made an official announcement regarding the successful conversion of over 500,000 vehicles to operate on natural gas.

This achievement is a crucial component of the ministry's overarching strategy aimed at curbing the consumption of petroleum.

This ambitious initiative has a dual purpose: firstly, it aims to mitigate the detrimental effects of carbon emissions, thus contributing to environmental improvement. Secondly, it strives to enhance road safety.

To kickstart this transformation, Egypt initiated the Aging Vehicle Replacement Initiative back in 2014.

This program was designed to replace conventional petroleum-powered vehicles with more environmentally friendly alternatives.

In a significant milestone, the nation inaugurated its inaugural center for converting vehicles to natural gas propulsion in March 2023.

In concert with these remarkable developments, the government has taken substantial measures to expand the network of natural gas refueling stations.

As of now, the total count stands at an impressive 910 stations, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for natural gas vehicle owners.
