Egypt Gets Its First Double Decker Train Desiro
The train will operate on the first line of the newly established high-speed rail network.

Egypt has received its first double-decker train, a Desiro HC model, which will operate on the first line of the newly established high-speed rail network, according to the National Tunnels Authority. The train is currently stationed in the New Administrative Capital and can accommodate up to 849 passengers while travelling at a speed of up to 160 kph.
Last year, the Egyptian government announced plans to transform domestic and regional connectivity through a vast new high-speed rail network. The network aims to link industrial and agricultural areas to ports and markets, as well as generate jobs and integrate different modes of travel. The extensive four-line system will cover over 2,250km and connect more than 80 Egyptian cities with neighbouring countries, including Libya and Sudan. The trains will be travelling at a speed of up to 250 kph.
