A New Participation Between Netflix And AFAC To Train Arab Female Creatives

Netflix and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) have unveiled plans to introduce a fresh training initiative designed to empower Arab women in filmmaking.

The program will extend invitations to 45 carefully chosen participants from specific countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, and the UAE. Over the course of the program, attendees can anticipate three days of immersive workshops set to take place in these Arab countries, in addition to an enriching excursion to Netflix's prominent production center in Europe.

Nuha el Tayeb, the Regional Content Director at Netflix, expressed the company's unwavering commitment to elevating the influence of women in filmmaking, stating, "At Netflix, we are deeply committed to amplifying the voices of women within the realm of camera work." Nuha el Tayeb added, "Through this collaborative initiative, we are unearthing a treasure trove of promising Arab talent and actively striving to ensure that women's perspectives are duly represented both in front of and behind the camera lens."

Established in 2007, AFAC stands as a coalition of imaginative minds within the Arab creative sphere. The group's core objective centers around the attainment of gender equality within the arts, and this novel program stands as a true reflection of AFAC's unyielding determination to challenge conventional norms.

Rima Mismar, the Executive Director of AFAC, affirmed the organization's ongoing dedication to its alliance with Netflix, underscoring its commitment to providing essential technical support to budding female talents. Additionally, Rima Mismar emphasized how this collaboration will pave the way for an even more profound comprehension of the persistent disparities and imbalances that women continue to face within the film industry.
